Today marks the first day of the Regional BBI Public Forums which begins in Nyanza region and hosted in Kisii County.

The take off has recieved a major setback after two prominent Kenyan women blasted the organizers as a Male Chauvinistic Forum. Former IEBC Commissioner who hails from the host region lamented as why the women of her motherland were kept of this important function that is aimed and bridging the divide in the communities. She twitted attaching a Photographic photo displaying the images of President Uhuru Kenya and Raila Odinga alongside all the six governors of Nyanza. ”Of course my motherland has no mothers, daughters…” She exclaimed.

In a Rejoinder, the NARC-K Party Leader and former Presidential Candidate Martha Karua in a sarcastic tone noted that “Of Course bridges are Male”.

There has been a lot of opposition in the BBI course from different quarters in the rest past with others calling it a backdoor strategy for dynasties to remain in power. Uasin Gishu governor Jackson Mandago claimed that its meant to create jobs for governors who are currently in their second and last term himself included.

The Gender war has been a long term feud in Kenya since the inception of the current Constitution in 2010. Parliament has been unable to enact laws that will ensure Gender parity in the Country.

Analysts are seeing the points raised by the two ladies should be taken with utmost seriousness should the proponents of BBI want to make a positive impact in the remaining regional forums. The next forum with be held in Kakamega County on 18th January for the Western region circuit.
